Last year I took a social media break and it was absolutely the best thing ever! I’m not going to lie it was incredibly difficult at first. Picking up my phone and clicking into instagram multiple times a day just became a habit. Sharing my life to my Instagram stories was preventing me from truly embracing the present. I felt like I had to share every moment and it was so distracting. During this break the Lord convicted me on the reality that I was going to prophetic words like the world goes to psychics. I was going to them for answers instead of the answer Himself JESUS. I got caught up looking for a feel good word that tickled my ears. I am not in anyway throwing out the prophetic all together however there are only a select few prophetic voices I now listen to but I am learning to truly test the spirit behind every word. I feel more stirred than ever before to get into the word of God myself and allow Him to speak to me through His word. It is sharper than any two-edge sword:

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edge sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

I am also a feeler. What do I mean by that? I feel everything. I am super sensitive to the spirit behind a social media post. I am super sensitive to atmosphere’s, people’s conversations, etc. It can be overwhelming and I am still learning to navigate this with the Lord. With the recent exposures in both the world and corporate church I am feeling so much. I knew this was coming. I might be considered border line “conspiracy theorist” but I knew there would be a mass exposure that people wouldn’t be able to handle. We need attached to the vine more than ever before. I haven’t really followed Lent much in the past however I feel this is important. 3 days of laying down our phones and picking up our bibles. 3 days of reflection, repentance, and gratitude unto the Lord.

My prayer is that we come away from this more satisfied by God than the world’s distractions. That we leave with a new passion for Jesus, our first love. That a fire is ignited within us to get back out into this world not only preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ but living it.
